    Description

This listing is for the one tube 12SN7 Regenerative Receiver that you see in the photos. It comes with plug-in inductors and a high impedance piezo headset. For this radio I use mico-inductors in lieu of coils (last photo). The performance is about the same, using either wire wound coils or micro-inductors, but the inductors cost less in time and money spent, which results in a lower price for you.
I make these to order, so please allow 7 to 10 days for shipment once your order has been placed. The one pictured has a black  hammered finish, but other common colors are possible. Personally I like the gray hammered finish. Please let me know if you have a color preference. I try to stick with a spray paint that can be purchased at Wal-Mart, local hardware outlets, etc.
The frequency coverage is from just below the 630 meter ham band, up through the AM broadcast band and continuous to about 16.0 mhz, simply by changing the plug-in forms provided.
You will need a well filtered DC power supply (or batteries) to power this radio. The supply should be capable of at least 12 to 14 volts DC. I have provided a means of powering the filament and B+ separately for increased gain, if desired. The wire harness has two separate leads (plus common ground) so you can do this.
Typically I find the best performance is when the filament supply is at 12 to 14 volts, with the regen/audio amp circuit powered separately with a dc voltage in the 18 to 30 volt range (40 volts max). Connect the filament/B+ wires in parallel to use only a 12 to 14 volt source.
Regen action will begin with the B+ in the 12 to 14 volt range, but the gain will increase when the amp/regen circuit is powered separately with well filtered dc of about 18 to 30 volts. You'll need a filament supply capable of about 350 to 400ma. The B+ circuit requires less current and works great with three 9 volt batteries connected in series.
You will need a wire antenna at least 25 ft. long and a good earth ground. More stations will be received with a longer antenna, 50 to 100' in length. I'm able to copy multiple am broadcast and shortwave stations in the early evening hours, including signals on the amateur radio bands.
A hand sketched wiring diagram will be provided, along with instructions on where to hook the antenna, power and headphones. The 8-pin power plug/wiring harness is included. All parts, with the exception of the vacuum tube, are new. I cannot always obtain new tubes, but guarantee the 12SN7 will test good. Controls are main and fine tuning, antenna coupling and regen setting.
I guarantee this radio will work if you hook it up properly with appropriate power supply and a good antenna. The 12SN7/6SN7 tubes have been used for many decades to make reliable, good performing regenerative receivers .
