    Description

    This listing is for the 12SN7 dual triode Regenerative Receiver that you see in the photos. It comes with plug-in coils and an 8-pin plug-in connector for your power supply (see last two photos for the wiring harness provided).
    This radio requires high impedance 2 to 4K ohm inductive or piezo headphones (not included). I often use a piezo headset like the ones shown in the photos, which work great. Please see my other listings for the piezo headphones that I sell. There's a standard 1/4" jack on the back panel of this radio for the audio output.
    I make these regenerative receivers to order, so please allow 7 to 10 days for shipment once your order has been placed. The one pictured has a dark hammered finish, but other common colors are possible. Please let me know if you have a preference. I try to stick with a spray paint that can be purchased at Wal-Mart, local hardware outlets, etc.
    The frequency coverage begins at about 195 khz in the longwave spectrum; continues through the 630 meter ham radio/experimental frequencies, then through the  AM broadcast and shortwave bands, continuous to about 14.5 mhz. All you have to do is change the plug-in coils. Several are included in this listing.
    You will need a well filtered DC power supply (or batteries) to power this radio. The supply should be capable of at least 12 to 14 volts DC. I have provided a means of powering the filament and B+ separately for increased gain, if desired.
    Typically I find the best performance is when the filament supply is at 12 to 14 volts, with the regen/audio amp circuit powered separately with a dc voltage in the 18 to 30 volt range. Regen action will begin with the B+ in the 12 to 14 volt range( connected in parallel with the filament), but the gain will increase when the amp/regen circuit is powered separately with well filtered dc in the 18 to 30 volt range. You'll need a filament supply capable of about 350 to 400ma. The B+ circuit works great with either 2 or 3 nine volt batteries connected in series.
    You will need a wire antenna at least 25 ft. long and a good earth ground. More stations will be received with a longer antenna of 50 to 100' in length. For the Longwave band, best reception is achieved with a vertical antenna, at least 25 to 30 ft. tall, using a base loading coil and working against a good earth ground counterpoise.
    A hand sketched wiring diagram will be provided, along with instructions on where to hook the antenna, power and headphones. The 8-pin power plug/wiring harness is included. More than 80% of the parts in this radio are new or nos. I cannot always obtain new tubes, but guarantee the 12SN7 will test good. So since a few of the parts may be used, I'm not listing this item as "new," though it will be constructed at the time of order.
    I guarantee this radio will work if you hook it up properly with appropriate power supply and a good antenna. The 12SN7/6SN7 tubes have been used for many decades to make reliable, good performing regenerative receivers .
