Jubo Dal activist killed in Sylhet factional clash

A Jubo Dal activist was murdered reportedly in a factional clash in Shahporan area of Sylhet city last night.
The deceased, identified as Bilal Ahmed Munshi, 35, was a resident of Khadim area and a painter by profession, said Mohammad Saiful Islam, additional deputy commissioner (Media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.
He was also affiliated with the 34-no ward unit of Jubo Dal. Locals reported that tensions between two factions of Jubo Dal over territorial dominance had been escalating for months.
Around 10:30pm, members of one faction allegedly attacked Bilal with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.
Bilal was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
His body has been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police have detained six individuals for questioning regarding the incident, the DC added.
